Due to the competitive nature of the gaming industry nowadays, development companies have been finding it harder and harder to survive. The latest example to prove this is the recent closure of Kingdoms of Amalur developer, 38 Studios. The team strived to get through after the release of their first and last game, but after just a few months the company could manage to repay their loans in time, and neither did they manage to pay their staff. Needless to say, the company was defunct and all of the staff was laid off. The team canceled their upcoming MMORPG, code named Project Copernicus, and also officially canceled all the DLCs and patches which were to be released for KoA.
