SteamOS Revealed

Valve have announced a brand new operating system built around Steam itself earlier this week during a Keynote speech. SteamOS will be based on the Linux Architecture, and aims to bring the Steam experience to the big screen. Aimed for living room machines, the SteamOS will also be bringing new features on the table, including;

  • In-Home Streaming: Streaming existing games from your MAC/PC, to your living room machine
  • Media-Service: Access to a huge library of Movies, Music, and TV.
  • Family Sharing: Share title you love with the people you love, playing each others games and saving your individual progress
  • Family Options: Individual accounts on one living room system allowing every family member to get the most out of their system.

The operating system will be available for free, and is expected to launch soon. Next week Valve co-founder Gabe Newell is set to reveal the first steam powered console during a keynote speech. For more information click here.
