It has been officially announced that Microsoft have reached an agreement with Ericsson to acquire Mediaroom. Mediaroom is the leading IPTV platform which has been implemented by TV operators around the world, and gave birth to the infrastructure that allowed video-streaming over limited bandwidth. Mediaroom has paved the way for entertainment on demand and the evolution of TV entertainment, and currently powers around 22 million set top boxes around the world. By taking this decision, Microsoft have cemented their dedication in investing all their TV resources in the next Xbox turning it into one system handing all entertainment media.
